Dedrick Tubbs
Founder, President
Dederick Tubbs, born on September 19, 1978, is the fourth child of Pearlene and Freddie Nelson. He was raised in the West Dallas Projects and graduated from W.T. White High School in 1997 before pursuing further education at Navarro College and Mountain View College. Dederick's journey included significant challenges, including a period of incarceration during which he served 15 years of a 30-year sentence. While incarcerated, he experienced a life-changing moment, accepting Christ on November 2, 2013. In 2015, after his release, Dederick began a new chapter in his life by marrying Sonya Tubbs just six days later. He currently serves as the Manager and Basketball Coach at West Dallas Community School, a Christian private school dedicated to nurturing youth development. Additionally, he is the President and Founder of Konnect To The Konnection, a non-profit organization focused on empowering youth impacted by incarceration—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Through sports, enrichment programs, and various activities, Dederick aims to connect young people to positive resources and opportunities, fostering resilience and hope. His unwavering commitment to uplifting the community and supporting at-risk youth continues to inspire and create lasting change.
